Growing a Greener Mindset

Free Tree Society is a non-profit environmental organisation dedicated to fostering stewardship by gifting trees to the community. Since 2013, we have distributed a vast forest of plants to homeowners, schools, marginalised communities, and wildlife habitats—inspiring a deep-rooted love for nature and biodiversity.

From Awareness to Action

We believe change grows when people grow. We empower thousands of individuals through immersive environmental education, covering everything from organic gardening and biodiversity to rainwater harvesting and climate reality. Whether through hands-on workshops in our nurseries, outdoor classrooms in urban forests, or digital talks reaching across the nation, we turn environmental passion into tangible skills.

A Shared Mission

Our impact is fueled by the support of partners who share our vision, including valuable longstanding partners like CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad, BRDB Developments Berhad, Yayasan Sime Darby, and Yayasan Hasanah. Our work is guided by global goals for environmental protection, climate action, and responsible consumption.

OUR PURPOSE

Fostering environmental stewardship.

While giving away free trees is our most visible activity, it serves as a "gateway" to a much broader mission: transforming how people interact with the planet. This purpose can be broken down into three main pillars:

  • Empowerment through Education: Providing the knowledge and tools so that anyone, regardless of their background, can become a confident guardian of the environment.

  • Mainstreaming Green Living: Working to move sustainability from a niche interest into a daily cultural habit in Malaysia. By making trees and ecological knowledge accessible for free, we remove the barriers to entry for sustainable living.

  • Ecosystem Restoration: By distributing thousands of plants to schools, homes, and wildlife habitats, we directly increase urban canopy cover and support local biodiversity, helping to mitigate the effects of climate change at a grassroots level.

In other words, we aim to bring green mainstream by moving people from simple awareness to active, hands-on conservation.

Our Mission

Free Tree Society is the first step.

We open eyes.
We shift mindsets.
We create the conditions for change.

Like rings in a tree trunk, our impact expands steadily over time —
each ring another community influenced.

We measure success not by noise,
but by durable change.
